That sounds Patronus somehow.

Several weeks back Other Kim set the PSS theme of:

“If you had a patronus what would yours be and why?”

I’ve muttered and groaned about this theme for weeks. I simply do not want to answer it because I HATE Harry Potter. In my view everything in the Harry Potter world feels recycled from older and better works. It’s tweaked just enough, then repackaged and sold as “original”. Mix that with a largely ignorant public, some easy reading and a good publishing agency and you have a smash hit for the decades. Bleh…

Am I claiming plagiarism? No. In the same way “Mike E. Mouse” does not plagiarize “Mickey Mouse”. It simply highlights a lack of creativity and originality of thought. And like the kid who’s running around w/ a Mike E. Mouse doll, I can’t help but feel sorry for those who think Harry Potter is some great, hugely original and creative work of literary fiction. Umm.. sure. I mean, is Mr. Pibb really as good as a Dr. Pepper?

The Patronus is a good example of what I’m talking about. In most literary works (including those of William Shakesphere) this type of being would be described as a Familiar. But - okay. I’ll just dig down to the core of the questions. If I had a Familiar Patronus what would it be?

It would be a Gorilla. Because, like me they are big, smart, grumpy and quick to anger. And… Occasionally I like to throw poo at my enemies.
