It’s Late - Can I still turn it in for half-credit? “My Favorite Halloween”

My theme from Kim of http://www.lostinplace.org is to write about my favorite Halloween of all time. I’m a big fan of Halloween and have a bunch of good memories from the holiday. It’s pretty amazing considering when I was in 5th grade I chopped my pinky off Halloween night while carving a Jack-o-Lantern. You would think any holiday in which you inadvertently sever a body part wouldn’t be considered one of your favorites. Truth be told it wasn’t that bad because the neighborhood kids felt sympathy for my severed digit and donated 1/2 their candy to me. Do the math 10 kids x 1/2 bag of candy each = nearly worth the surgery / recovery. Strangely enough it continues to be a near-second to Christmas in my book. But in the end I’d have to say my favorite Halloween was the first Halloween in our very-first home. It was a good year for us, we had plenty of disposable income (read: no kids) and decided to go to Sam’s Club and buy a bunch of full-size candy bars to give out. The looks the kids would give us when we pulled out the full-sized candy bars and plopped em in their buckets was priceless. Later as the night progressed some of the smarter kids tried to swing-by and “double-dip” the big candy. They were poorly disappointed when we strategically gave them a single roll of smarties each. What a great night - we were legends. Years later we had kids lament the fact that we didn’t have big candy anymore. I feel sorry for whomever lives there now, I’m sure they still field the complaints.
